All about Island Peak Climbing
Island peak also known as imja tase is a non-technical peak of Nepal situated in Sagarmatha region. The imja tase is named island peak by members of British Mount Everest expedition team because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.
Island peak is among the most preferred mountaineering peak of Nepal with a rating of an alpine PD+ standard climbing route. The peak can be achieved on 20 days as an expedition. The climbing route of island peak is a long steady trek through breathtaking landscapes and highland sherpa community villages. while Chasing the island summit you will be rewarded with promising views of surrounding Himalayan buddies like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Bruntse, Makalu and Ama Dablam.
All in All climbing expedition of Island peak definitely worth a lot for adventure seekers out there. However, It does require special guidance and basic skills of mountaineering. Island peak climbing route is bit challenging than Mera peak due to steep glaciers during the way. When you make it through steep climbing, then successfully achieved the summit.

On this day you will explore the delightful capital city Kathmandu. Take a visit to UNESCO world heritage site sites- Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square & more. Your trip starts form next morning & we will brief your entire plan.
Today you will take an early morning flight to Lukla. Bless your eyes with appealing scenery during the Half an hour flight. Lukla is the main gateway to Everest region. From here you will begin your Everest view trek. Just to warm up we trek downhill to Phakhding village it takes 3-hour to reach Pakhding village & we will rest at Phakding village.
It takes 6 hours to get to Namche Bazaar. This day we will cross 5 suspension bridge. The highest bridge Hillary Bridge is the last one crossed before the steep climb to Namche Bazaar. After reaching Namche you will now explore the Sagarmatha National park & enjoy the crowded Namche-a hub for tourist in Himalaya. Stroll around the local Namche for last minute shopping.
On this day you will visit the Museum & enjoy several surrounding peaks. In the meantime, you will get along with the locals & their unique culture. On the rest of the day, you will explore Namche bazar where you can get internet, food & lay down to relax. Overnight at Namche.
We will trek for Tengboche which is home of largest monastery in Everest region. Explore Tengboche monastery after 5 hours long hike from Namche.
After another 6 hours hike from Tengboche, we will reach Dingboche. At Dingboche, you will likely feel cold & probably experience fatigue in your journey. On arrival at Dingbiche, you will see a beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone wall to to protect barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals.
Today you will be heading towards the Imja river to reach Chukhung Valley. After 4 hours of trek, you will be reaching Chukhung valley. Chukhung valley is full of mountain vistas like Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse, Mount Baruntse & Ama Dablam. This is the place surrounded by mountains & glaciers.
After leaving Chukhung, you will trek for 4 hours to reach Island peak base camp & you will prepare to camp here at base camp. The staff from Nepal ski guide will serve hot soup for you.
While walking through glacier you need to save your energy so you will rest for while to get acclimatized with the altitude. Our guides will provide basic training on climbing techniques, proper ways of using the climbing gears and ropes.
Island peak is one of the most preferred trekking peaks of Nepal with a difficulty grade of alpine Pd+. This peak requires some basic climbing skills & climbing guide is a must to achieve the peak. You will start chasing the summit before sunrise & later return to Chukhung before sunset. Island Peak is the most climbed mountain in the Himalayan range. It has a difficulty grade of Alpine PD+ so that means it requires some climbing skills but is possible with the help of a guide. There is a tricky crevasse near the summit but don’t worry we will get you over it. We will start the summit before sunrise and get back to the base and return to Chukhung before sunset.
You will descend now to reach Tengboche. It all takes 6 hours to reach Tengboche. Tengboche is home of largest monastery in Everest region.
On this day we descend down through rhododendron forest. on crossing bridge & steep climbing through pine forest, you are in Khumjung. Take your time to explore Khumjung village & later continue your walk to Namche Bazaar.
Today you will retrace your steps back to Luka where it all started. Your Everest panorama ends here.
After Half an hour peace you will be back in Kathmandu & probably you will prepare for your departure.
Today You will have free time to relax, freshen up and rest. Before you leave, You will have a farewell dinner to celebrate your trip success.
